Our Painfluencers are people embedded in communities and care systems. They engage and influence the people they work with, sharing messages aligned to the modern understanding of pain science.

These passionate and motivated individuals hone their knowledge of pain science, influence and pedagogic skills through our unique Painfluencer Programme - a multi-day learning experience lead by the Flippin’ Pain team.

Why Painfluencers matter

Building essential capacity, capability and sustainable local support, the Painfluencer Programme is our take on a blend of ‘train the trainer’ and health coaching models. Painfluencers are equipped to share consistent, evidence-based pain messaging across teams, communities and people living with pain, helping spread the Flippin’ Pain message.

Persistent pain places significant demand on health and care systems. Variation in knowledge, misconceptions about pain, and inconsistent messaging can impact patient outcomes, service use and staff confidence.

The Painfluencer Programme addresses these challenges by:

  • Embedding up-to-date pain science and best-practice guidance

  • Standardising clear, positive, and evidence-based messaging

  • Increasing workforce confidence, empathy and communication skills

  • Enabling scalable, sustainable knowledge transfer across organisations and communities

Our Painfluencers are part of our constant mission: to change the way people think about, talk about, and treat persistent pain.

“One of the most important aspects of the course is the use of language and terminology when speaking to clients and how this can shape people’s perception of pain.”

- Jack, Health & Fitness Coordinator, Tees Active

What we deliver

The course is normally delivered over three days and covers a range of skills related to communication.

  • "The sessions equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to deliver the workshop effectively to a diverse audience, and having a strong belief in the Flippin’ Pain message added to that confidence."

Emma, Quality & Improvement Lead, CADAS

  • “The course was very intense but also rewarding, and I have already been applying the programme’s principles during consultations with members of the public.”

    Jordan, Health Co-ordinator, Tees Active
